Opportunism and Goodwill: Canadian Business Expansion in Colombia, 1867–1979 (University of Toronto Press, 2021).

Explores the often overlooked role of Canada in shaping the social, economic, political, and environmental dynamics of the Western Hemisphere, particularly in relation to Colombia. Argues that since the late 19th century, Canada’s private sector has played a key role in Latin American markets, both independently and in collaboration with foreign interests. Highlights the interdependence between Canada and Colombia and stresses the importance of a transnational approach to understanding their historical relationship, while also exploring Canada’s global impact and its "goodwill" in international affairs.

"Deja-vu from 1854: Free Trade, Protectionism, and the Canadian-American Reciprocity Treaty" in Trade-Offs: The History of Canada-U.S. Trade Negotiations, edited by Mark S. Bonham, (University of Toronto Press, 2019), 47-59.

Looks at the first attempt at a trade agreement between the Canadian and the United States in 1854 when Canada was still part of the British empire. Draws connections to the parallels between past and present threats of annexation, nationalism, and protectionism.

"One Size Fits All? Canadian Development Assistance to Colombia, 1953-1972" in "A Samaritan State” Revisited: Historical Perspectives on Canadian Foreign Aid, 1950-2016, edited by Greg Donaghy, Dominique Marshall, David Webster, (University of Calgary Press, 2019).

Looks at the role that Canadian Official Development Aid had on the economic development of Colombia, and the role of Canadian businesses behind the aid policy. Highlights how the Canadian government used aid to compete against U.S. economic interests in the region.
