About Kimberly
Simmons' research focuses on social movements and feminist activism. Overarching themes in Simmons' work includes investigations into what conditions contribute to sustainable activism over time for individuals and what leaders and organizations can do to promote social justice in movement building. Recently Simmons has focused on Title IX and #MeToo activism. Simmons works with a diverse group of community organizations; including the Maine Boys to Men; the Maine Women's Lobby Education Fund; Friends School of Portland and more. Currently; Simmons organizes a curriculum for Yoga for Sustainable Activism; is participating in a Title IX task force with Portland Public Schools; and is a leader with Women's March Portland.
