Weaver's research explores the use of social enterprise and entrepreneurship as a human and community economic development tool. She conducted the first large-scale empirical study on the social; economic; and legal activities of social enterprises in the United States and is the Founder of Weaver's Social Enterprise Directory; a national; public directory for social enterprises in the nation.
