Courtney Rejano

Rejano's focus is exploring how medical students conceptualize patient advocacy—what it means to them, how they believe physicians should advocate for patients, and what they’ve learned about advocacy through their medical education. Rejano is particularly interested in how this understanding is shaped by formal curriculum, institutional culture, and students’ familiarity with the historical and structural contexts that impact health equity (e.g., past injustices in healthcare, systemic racism, social determinants of health).
