About Anil
Kalhan’s research focuses on immigration law, constitutional law, international human rights law, and privacy and surveillance. Overarching themes in Kalhan's work include the large scale expansion of immigration enforcement since the 1990s; the intersections between immigration law, privacy, surveillance, and technology; the politics of the judiciary; and issues that arise when legal regimes span periods of authoritarian and democratic rule. He serves as a member of the New York City Bar Association's Task Force on the Rule of Law and previously chaired its International Human Rights Committee, and he also has worked extensively on academic freedom issues in a variety of capacities.
