Andrea Bien

Bien's area of expertise is literacy teaching and learning in elementary classrooms with a specific focus on issues of equity. She studies classroom practice including the interactions between teachers, students, and curricula in service of understanding how to support teaching and learning that disrupts the status quo and promotes equity & justice. Bien is also the Director of Educating Critically, a center for anti-oppression teaching and learning based at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development.
