About Karina

Shklyan’s research focuses on the role of universities as an institution of immigrant integration for international students. She is interested in how universities serve as a stepping stone for international students who seek to remain in the US after graduation. Her broader work on immigrant integration also includes works about the diasporic experiences of American Jews moving to Israel and how the internet can shape socioeconomic outcomes for immigrants. She is a former San Diego Fellow for UCSD’s Yankelovich Center for Social Science Research and a Graduate Research Fellow for the U.S. Immigration Policy Center.
