Below is an excerpt from a public comment written with Jake Earl, submitted to the Biden Administration in regard to their request for information on insurance coverage of over-the-counter (OTC) preventive products on December 13, 2023.

We are writing to provide input on the recent public comment request regarding the potential requirement for health insurance plans to cover a range of over-the-counter (OTC) preventive products, specifically including contraception. As concerned advocates for reproductive health, we appreciate the opportunity to contribute to this crucial dialogue. The Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) recent approval of Opill, an OTC oral contraceptive, is undoubtedly a significant milestone for reproductive health. This decision holds the promise of expanding access to contraception, empowering individuals to make informed choices about their reproductive well-being, and potentially reducing unplanned pregnancies.
