Right now, our Senators are debating Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, passed by the House of Representatives late last month. In its current form, the bill would slash hundreds of billions of dollars from programs that the most vulnerable American families rely on, including Medicaid, which Senator Hawley has vocally opposed.

While it’s important that our leaders protect health insurance for the poorest Americans, the tax side of the equation is also vital. If our Senators don’t step up, both the Child Tax Credit (CTC) and the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the two most important tax breaks for low-income families, are slated for big changes. None of these changes would be helpful for the poorest and most vulnerable residents of Missouri, who are already struggling to get by as essentials like food and housing grow more expensive.
