House Bill Would Gut Medicaid in Missouri — Even for Those Who Work

In the early hours of Thursday, May 22, the U.S. House of Representatives passed its so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” a massive package of tax and spending cuts that lays out the Trump administration’s domestic legislative agenda.
While estimates vary and the legislation has changed substantially in the last two weeks, the consequences for Medicaid — the nation’s health coverage program for low-income residents, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups — are clear: Hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts, and millions left with no insurance.
In Missouri, that would mean billions in lost federal funding and, more important, hundreds of thousands of vulnerable Missourians without access to health care.
