Srivastav's research focuses on adverse childhood experiences, prevention of maltreatment, public opinion on issues affecting children, and risk behavior engagement. Srivastav's writings overarching themes include understanding ways to alleviate health inequities through early childhood experiences and the role of systemic inequities in public health outcomes. Srivastav serves on several local boards and committees including the City of Columbia's Complete Count Committee, The State Newspaper's Opinion Advisory Board, Columbia Opportunity Resource and Richland County Public Education Partners.

Examines legislator perspectives on adverse childhood experiences.
Examines racial inequities associated with adverse childhood experiences and tobacco use. Finds that while safe, stable nurturing relationships in childhood decrease tobacco use among White adults that report ACEs, these relationships are not protective for Black adults.
Examines legislator perspectives on how to prevent and address adverse childhood experiences. Describes how much legislators know about ACEs, the ways in which they think ACEs should be addressed, and the barriers to addressing issues like ACEs through state level policymaking.
